A New Mall in the Bay Area?


This is the Hilltop Mall which is located a few miles away from my home here in El Sobrante.
I watched the news on KTVU Fox 2 which said that the mall was just purchased today.
Me, my mom and my sister have gone to this mall a few times and I have seen for myself how few people are going to malls to shop because of the emergence of online shopping.
Many stores are closed and in the Sears appliance store that we went to, the sales people gave us the runaround when we asked on how we can get a replacement for our refrigerator.
I hope that once this mall is redeveloped and becomes a more modern place, I can get a chance to work there.
Getting a job here in the US is so difficult because we live in an area where there is little traffic and public transportation.
It has been hard for me to adjust to life here in California and now, I'm feeling homesick. But I have no choice because my mom had to work so hard to petition me here.
Leaving behind my active life as a sportswriter back in the Philippines has been a sacrifice but I couldn't turn down my mom because if she didn't petition me, coming here would be more difficult because of President Trump's immigration policies, as well as President Duterte's anti-drug war.
Once the new Hilltop Mall owners start their redevelopment, it won't take long before I get back to the grind again.

The NFL on Philippine TV

THE National Football League will finally have a Philippine TV carrier this season. A day ago, TV5 announced in its social media sites that it will air one NFL game every Monday, Tuesday and Friday live at 8 am with replays over its sister cable channel Hyper for Cignal subscribers. NFL games have been irregularly televised in the Philippines because obviously, many Pinoys don't understand the rules of American football. Previously, ABS-CBN tried airing the NFL on its defunct Studio 23 but the games didn't catch on with many viewers. And now, TV5 is gambling on the NFL as it tries to keep pace with ABS-CBN's Sports+Action 23 which airs the NBA, UAAP and NCAA games. IF there is one thing that ABS-CBN Sports should do in order to improve its coverage of the NBA games, it's that it has to add more weekend games on its flagship station Channel 2. At present, the NBA on ABS-CBN is only on Saturday mornings. The first half is delayed but the second game comes in live with the usual Taglish commentary coming from PBA legends Benjie Paras and Ronnie Magsanoc. On Fridays, Sundays and Mondays, ABS-CBN airs its NBA telecast on its sister channel S+A which used to be the old Studio 23 that aired a number of canned shows in the 90s.
