Wanna Get On The Jump?

One TV show that I find enjoyable watching here in the US is The Jump, a daily talk show where reporters from ESPN talk about the NBA.

The show originally took a break during the NBA off-season but due to the tremendous popularity of the league, ESPN decided to make it a permanent show all year-round.

The Jump is hosted by ESPN veteran Rachel Nichols but right now, she is on a summer break so ESPN reporters like Ramona Shelburne, Amin El-Hassan and Brian Windhorst are pinch-hitting for her.

Ever since the NBA season ended, the pinch-hitters have been talking mostly about the drama surrounding the Cleveland Cavaliers who are in turmoil because of Kyrie Irving asking for a trade and LeBron James speaking out about his possible move to another team in free agency and even talking about politics in the light of many Americans hating President Trump.

Another topic frequently discussed in The Jump is the fate of Carmelo Anthony whose future with the New York Knicks is in doubt because of his no-trade clause which he will waive if he agrees to be traded to either the Cavaliers or Houston Rockets.

In the Philippines, The Jump is shown on NBA Premium after ESPN sold its Asian shares to Fox Sports because of the former's decision to concentrate more on the North American sports market especially with the network losing a lot of subscribers to other sports channels and social media.

The Jump gets pre-empted sometimes by other sports coverages during the summer that ESPN is focusing on like Little League Baseball and tennis. But once the NBA opens its new season in October, then expect The Jump to be increased to one hour to accommodate more NBA topics.

With the NBA on a break now, shows like The Jump keep us NBA fanatics updated. I wonder if ABS-CBN would come up with a similar show in the Philippines since the Kapamilya Network aires the NBA games there.
